This position will report directly to the Controller at our Sault Ste. Marie location to help assist in the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions of the organization.   • 3+ years of relevant accounting/accounts payable experience
  • Post-secondary education completion in accounting or business program
  • Working towards an accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
  • Exceptional organization, communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities
  • Strong and proficient skills in Microsoft Office, BisTrack and Great Plains - considered an asset
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Knowledge of payroll and other government-related filing requirements


  • Work with purchasing and receiving department to resolve discrepancies between invoices and orders.
  • Ensure all appropriate documentation has been completed by receiving and purchasing before payment of invoices.
  • Ensure invoices are paid on time to take advantage of any/all payment discounts.
  • Follow up with vendors on incorrect documents and have changes made.
  • Process all payments to vendors with supporting documentation for review by Controller.
  • Provide assistance to the payroll and accounts receivable departments
  • Assist in the process of month end reconciliation for financial statements
  • Reconcile records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors and customers
  • Research, analyze, report and correct discrepancies within accounting subledgers
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements, and keep and file all records as per legislative requirements
  • Ensure the protection and security of files and records
  • Prepare and file monthly HST return and other government filings
  • Support the company Controller with special projects and process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned
